Nothing appears on the display.

Probable Cause / Reason: |

| The batteries are not loaded properly. |
| The batteries are dead. |
| The POWER/LOCK switch is set to OFF. |
| If none of these suggestions works |
| The recorder is in HOLD mode. |
|
Action: |

| Verify polarity is correct. |
| Replace with new batteries. |
| Set the POWER/LOCK switch to ON. |
| Reset the recorder. |
| Release the recorder from HOLD. |

| The earphone is connected. |

Sometimes a connection cannot be made with some PCs running Windows XP. |
